As the people of YAHUAH,
Let Us Be Clothed With Humility

September 10, 2005

Dear Saints,

Let us remember that our clothes communicate a lot about us. We should all be mindful of what message our clothes are sending because YAHUAH cares about what we wear. Helping hand putting on coat picture for humilityYAHUAH has always been concerned with our dress. In the book of Genesis, we see how Adam and Eve were in perfect fellowship with Ab YAHUAH before they were disobedient. Adam and Eve were both naked in the garden but did not feel any guilt or shame because they had the covering of Ab YAHUAH. After disobeying YAHUAH, they lost their covering and realized that they were naked. Genesis 3:7, “And the eyes of them both were opened and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.” When we are disobedient to YAHUAH, we feel exposed, guilty, and ashamed.

Man made the apron of fig leaves, which is a waist belt, to cover his private parts. Did this satisfy Ab YAHUAH? It is clear from scripture that their attire did not meet YAHUAH’s standard because he made them clothes and dressed them. Genesis 3:21, “Unto Adam also to his wife did Ab YAHUAH make coats of skins, and clothed (dressed) them. The definition of a coat is a tunic (next to the skin undergarment), a long shirt down to the knees, ankles, and feet. YAHUAH made them clothes that covered their entire body.

As the people of YAHUAH, we should “PUT ON therefore as the elect of YAHUAH, set apart and beloved, bowels (inward affection, tender mercy) of mercies, kindness (moral goodness, integrity), humbleness (modesty) of mind meekness, longsuffering (patience, endurance); 13 Forbearing one another and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as MashaYAH forgave you, so also do ye. 14 And above all these things put on charity (love), which is the bond of perfectness.” I Colossians 3: 12-14

We should adorn (decorate) ourselves in well arranged, modest apparel. Our clothes should communicate our good behavior with shame-facedness (honesty, decency, reverence, and respect). Our apparel should display our sobriety (sensibleness, soundness of mind, and self- control). Because of our chaste behavior we dress and carry ourselves as men and women (children) of YAHUAH, professing righteousness and as men and women with good works. I Timothy 2: 9-10, “In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearl, or costly array; 10 But (which becometh women professing righteousness) with good works.”
